'The wee bar with a great big heart', Henry Hall’s Carriers Quarters has been a public house for over 200 years. Over the years it's had a number of titles, from The Merman to Todd’s Tap, but that’s about all that’s changed. It’s acknowledged as Leith’s oldest unaltered pub, dating back to 1785, save the addition of modern conveniences. The tiny kitchen offers traditional pies (the proper sort) on weekdays, but this is, as it always has been, a place for a traditional drink and a chat. Except when there’s live music on – which can really raise the rafters.
